First- and second-year students of the Mary Oil and Gas Secondary Vocational School under the State concern «Türkmengaz» successfully completed academic and practical training at the concern's facilities this academic year. The sessions were conducted under the guidance of instructors and with the involvement of experienced industry specialists.First-year students majoring in «Automation and Relay Protection of Electric Power Systems», and «Installation and Technical Operation of Industrial Equipment», mastered software control of AC and DC electrical equipment at automated units, as well as digital control technologies for modern automatic systems from leading global manufacturers.Second-year students majoring in «Construction and Operation of Oil and Gas Pipelines and Storage Facilities» completed their training at the «Şatlyk» compressor station of the «Türkmengazakdyryş» production association, located on the Döwletabat–Derýalyk trunk gas pipeline. Mentors introduced the students to the operating principles of gas-compressor units and to methods of monitoring natural gas quality in the chemical laboratory. At this facility, natural gas from the «Galkynyş» and «Döwletabat» fields is cooled and, under high pressure, pumped along the pipeline to the Garagum compressor station. The future specialists studied the production cycle, equipment specifications, the work of gas industry personnel, and the process of transporting raw material for export.According to Garry Agageldyyev, deputy director for practical training, students majoring in «Development of Oil and Gas Fields», «Major Overhaul of Oil and Gas Wells», «Exploration and Operation of Oil and Gas Fields», and «Instrumentation and Automation» completed their training at the facilities of the «Marygazçykaryş» and «Türkmengazawtomatika» departments and other divisions of the concern. He said the academic and production program was fulfilled in full, and that the smooth organization and effective progress of the training was ensured by department heads Nagmatmyrat Babekov, Serdar Orazdurdyyev, Selbi Yagmyrova, and the teaching staff.

On August 7, a meeting was held in Ashgabat between Mahri Bashimova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Christine Hawkins, Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the United States of America in Turkmenistan.The parties discussed current issues of Turkmen-American cooperation and explored prospects for further collaboration in areas of mutual interest. Year after year, drilling and extraction of crude oil based on modern technologies, discovery of promising new oil fields, and efforts to increase hydrocarbon production volumes continue at a rapid pace. Along with this, the state supports and consistently expands activities aimed at industrial processing of raw materials to manufacture high-value-added products and regularly export them to global markets.During the years of independence, vast opportunities have been created in the country not only for raw material extraction but also for high-quality processing and a substantial increase in export capacities. Currently, at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR) and the Seydi Oil Refinery, hydrocarbon raw materials are processed into finished products—such as high-quality fuels, various types of lubricating oils, and other domestic and industrial products—and regularly dispatched to domestic and international markets. Among the primary products meeting global standards derived from oil are eco-friendly gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil (mazut), and road bitumen. The main export destinations for crude oil and refined products include the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Turkey, the Republic of Korea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan, and other nations. Furthermore, transport services to promptly deliver oil and petroleum products to global consumers are being systematically expanded through the modern logistical capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.During the expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on July 10, 2026, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced with great satisfaction that the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate reached 6.3 percent during the reporting period. According to him, during the reporting period, the gasoline production plan was met by 116%, diesel fuel by 111.4%, polypropylene by 100%, high-quality lubricating oils by 119.4%, and liquefied gas by 118.5%. Meanwhile, the natural and associated gas production plan was achieved at 107.6%.Dovletgeldi Amanmuhammedov, Chairman of the State Committee on Statistics, disclosed the exact physical production volumes achieved by the country's ministries and sectoral departments during the first six months of the year at the government meeting. According to the precise statistical data of the State Committee's head, sustainable growth was ensured in the country's industrial sector based on the results of January–June 2026, with 39 billion 147.2 million cubic meters of natural gas and 4 million 129.8 thousand tons of oil extracted during the reporting period.Dovletgeldi Amanmuhammedov also provided comparative figures against the same period of the previous year. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of Romania has initiated a proposal to resume the AGRI project, which would open a direct route for Turkmen gas to the European market. This was announced by the President of the Romanian CCI, Mihai Daraban, during a meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, Annamammet Annayev.During the talks, the parties discussed prospects for energy cooperation and interaction between the ports of Constanța and Turkmenbashi. According to Daraban, Turkmenistan already possesses a pipeline reaching the Caspian Sea, creating a technical foundation for the project's implementation. As the head of the Romanian CCI noted in a comment to «Capital» publication, the port of Constanța could serve as the entry point for Turkmen gas into Europe via the transport infrastructure of Azerbaijan and Georgia, with subsequent connection to the BRUA pipeline (Bulgaria–Romania–Hungary–Austria).Daraban emphasized that implementing the project requires forming a business core capable of uniting energy sector companies from both countries, noting that energy remains one of the most relevant areas of cooperation in the current European context.In turn, Turkmen Ambassador Annamammet Annayev reported that the country's GDP grew by 6.3% in the first half of 2026, and that Turkmenistan holds the world's fourth-largest proven natural gas reserves. Turkmenistan is carrying out extensive work on natural gas preparation, purification, and processing, applying modern technologies that reduce the environmental impact. Special attention is being paid to developing hydrogen sulfide (H2S) gas fields, which allows for the extraction of valuable chemical raw materials without harming the atmosphere.The country has established production of export-grade commercial gas purified from organic and inorganic impurities, which is of major importance for transporting «blue fuel» via pipeline. As a result of gas processing, the main product obtained is commercial gas, along with a mixture of liquid hydrocarbons and sulfur.The comprehensive processing of enriched natural gases and associated petroleum gases is of particular interest, as their components serve as raw materials for the production of polymer products, synthetic fibers, surfactants, and synthetic detergents.Hydrogen sulfide gas deposits are typically located at depths of 3–5 kilometers, where reservoir pressure and temperature are significantly elevated. Despite their complex composition, such deposits are of great importance for the country's energy sector and industry.An example is the «Galkynyş» gas field, where enormous plants have been built capable of processing tens of billions of cubic meters of gas annually. At these facilities, toxic hydrogen sulfide is not released into the atmosphere but is instead chemically processed: the gas is neutralized, and pure sulfur is extracted, preventing air pollution from sulfur compounds.Highly sensitive automatic sensors and monitoring systems capable of promptly detecting gas leaks have been installed around the fields and plants.Thus, the development of hydrogen sulfide gas deposits in Turkmenistan is being carried out using modern high technologies, closed production systems, and strict environmental controls, without causing harm to the environment.&nbsp;Source: «Nebit-gaz» newspaper

Turkmenistan expands hydrogen sulfide gas processing using environmentally clean technologies

The Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University has admitted its first students for the 2026–2027 academic year. Among those who successfully passed the entrance examinations are Ashgabat residents Nurana Ashyrova and Dovletgeldi Dovletgeldiyev.Nurana Ashyrova studied at Ashgabat Secondary School No. 6 from 2014 to 2026. During her school years, she won first place and a gold medal at the FISO (Future Intelligence Student Olympiad) international English language olympiad for schoolchildren (2024), took second place in the TeenEagle Online English Language Competition (2024), and earned a silver medal at the English language olympiad organized by the International University for the Humanities and Development (2025).Dovletgeldi Dovletgeldiyev participated in the XCEL International Round held in Los Angeles, California (USA) in 2025, where he was awarded a 1st Degree Diploma.The students noted that ideal conditions have been created in the country for receiving a modern education and training highly qualified specialists. Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector prepares for the People’s Council meeting

Since the beginning of the year, the Kenar oil collection and loading enterprise of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries of the State concern «Türkmennebit» has dispatched 1 million 890 thousand 688 tons of petroleum products to domestic and foreign consumers. Out of this total volume, more than 372 thousand tons were delivered to foreign markets through the enterprise.Finished products from the oil refineries—aviation kerosene, gasoline, diesel and kerosene fuel, and various oils—are sent for sale without losses, supported by modern facilities developed at the enterprise.In recent years, an automated railway trestle for loading and unloading light petroleum products, as well as a new 3rd marine berth for loading and receiving crude oil and petroleum products, have been constructed and commissioned at the enterprise.The annual capacity of the railway trestle is 3 million 850 thousand tons of light petroleum products. At this automated facility, petroleum products are loaded into railway tank cars by type in specified volumes, the weight of each tank car is measured by electronic scales, and documentation is processed automatically according to consumer addresses and destinations. By capturing vapors formed during the loading of tank cars, the loss of more than 300 tons of gasoline per year is prevented, along with environmental pollution. An administrative and amenity building designed for 150 people has been built on the site, equipped with offices, a workshop, a cafeteria, a conference room, and other amenities.Uninterrupted loading of products into tank cars is ensured by separate pumping and transformer stations, as well as a diesel generator. The installation of a modern «TS-1» type filter on the aviation kerosene pipeline enhances aircraft safety during flight.The new 3rd marine berth was built under a contract concluded between the oil refinery complex and the British company «Petro Gas LLP». Its annual capacity for shipping petroleum products is 2 million 60 thousand tons, and for receiving crude oil and petroleum products, it is 1 million 150 thousand tons. Students of the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University have completed an advanced training course at the Technological University of the Malaysian company «PETRONAS». During the sessions held from July 13 to 23, the Turkmen youth became closely acquainted with the implementation of modern innovative and digital technologies in the oil and gas sector, as well as the key operational features of these systems. Students from Turkmenistan performed successfully at the 33rd International Student Mathematics Olympiad, held from July 27 to August 3, 2026, in Blagoevgrad (Republic of Bulgaria).The Olympiad was organized by University College London (United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) in collaboration with the American University in Bulgaria.Turkmenistan was represented at this prestigious international competition by students from the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, the International University for the Humanities and Development, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University, the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction, the Turkmen State Pedagogical Institute named after Seytnazar Seydi, and the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, who won 6 gold and 3 silver medals.It is worth noting that approximately 450 students from various countries around the world participated in the 33rd International Mathematical Olympiad.

Turkmenistan exceeded its gasoline production target for January–July 2026. This was reported by the Deputy Prime Minister Guvanch Agajanov at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, which was held virtually on August 1.As reported, during the reporting period, the State concern «Türkmennebit» fulfilled its oil production target by 108.7 percent and its oil refining target at the concern’s specialized refineries by 105.5 percent.The production targets for gasoline were met at 121.6 percent, for diesel fuel at 113.5 percent, polypropylene at 100.2 percent, lubricating oils at 103 percent, liquefied gas at 122.6 percent, and natural and associated gas production at 108.1 percent.Summarizing the report, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the need to continue increasing natural gas and oil production and to properly carry out work on the development of hydrocarbon fields. The Head of state also instructed the Deputy Prime Minister to steadily expand the production capacity of the enterprises within the complex.
