Turkmenistan is preparing to host a large-scale Turkmen-Chinese business forum and exhibition scheduled for April 28-30, 2026, which will serve as an important international platform for expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The joint-stock company &quot;Talvas Yoly&quot; and its division &quot;Oguz Forum &amp; Expo&quot; in cooperation with the Turkmen Logistics Association are the official organizers of the event. The forum is aimed at developing partnership in logistics, transport, export and import, as well as establishing direct business contacts between specialized companies of Turkmenistan and China.

The year&#39;s results have not yet been summarized in figures, but the most significant events that marked this anniversary year are already visible, including those in the development of the oil and gas industry&mdash;a key segment of the national economy and a strategic resource for the country.

During working meetings and sessions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held this year, current areas of the energy strategy, focused on innovative development and improvement of the fuel and energy infrastructure, were discussed. Among the strategic objectives set by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the fuel and energy sector, which are being successfully implemented in 2025 by the state concerns Turkmengas, Turkmennebit, and the State Corporation Turkmengeology, are the identification and development of new promising fields, expansion of production capacity, increased hydrocarbon production and processing volumes, ensuring uninterrupted gas supplies to consumers and reliable energy transportation, as well as expanding business contacts with leading oil and gas companies and reputable financial institutions.

In 2025, the implementation of large-scale international projects continued, including the construction of the Turkmenistan&ndash;Afghanistan&ndash;Pakistan&ndash;India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is designed not only to supply Turkmen gas to Asian countries but also to become an important factor in strengthening economic partnership, peace, and stability in the region. In this regard, the launch of the next stage of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline, known as &quot;Arkadagyň ak &yacute;oly&quot; and part of the TAPI project, was a significant event of the year.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, symbolically launched welding work on the Afghan section. Speaking at the ceremony, Arkadagyň noted that Afghan citizens will also be involved in the project&#39;s implementation, and its full implementation will create new jobs. Furthermore, annual revenues to Afghanistan will average over $1 billion, which will have a positive impact on bilateral relations and the development of the region as a whole.

One of the key areas of independent Turkmenistan&#39;s energy strategy remains the supply of Turkmen energy to foreign markets. This topic has been repeatedly raised during meetings and negotiations at the highest and other levels.

Thus, as part of the official visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Italy on October 25, a Turkmen-Italian business forum was held in Rome, bringing together over 150 representatives of the two countries&#39; business communities. In his speech, the head of state noted that Turkmenistan is considering the prospects of a western energy supply route, emphasizing its readiness for substantive dialogue with Italian partners, including in the areas of deep processing and the export of high-value-added products.

Throughout the year, work continued on the industrial development of Turkmen offshore fields in the Caspian Sea, as well as the world&#39;s largest onshore gas field, Galkynysh, with reserves estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters.

A significant achievement for drillers at the State Concern Turkmennebit was the commissioning of a new well at the Uzynada field, measuring 6,830 meters deep and producing 70 tons of oil condensate and 75,000 cubic meters of natural gas daily. Notably, the well was commissioned at the beginning of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Turkmen geologists continued active work to identify new underground natural resource reserves. Seismic exploration in the country&#39;s provinces revealed several promising structures. Another significant milestone was the opening in July of the third oil loading berth at the Kenar oil product storage and loading facility of the Turkmenbashi Oil Refinery Complex of the State Concern Turkmennebit.

A clear example of Turkmenistan&#39;s commitment to international climate action, including participation in the Global Methane Emissions Reduction Commitment, is the work to reduce emissions at the Darvaza gas crater. In June 2025, a significant reduction in gas supply to the crater was reported, confirmed by both a visual reduction in combustion intensity and independent satellite data from the Capterio company.

Specialized exhibitions and conferences traditionally play an important role in promoting the domestic fuel and energy sector and developing international cooperation. The &quot;Lebapgazchykarysh&quot; Department put into operation a new gas well &quot;Hazarly-2,&quot; drilled by specialists from the &quot;Marynebitgazg&ouml;zleg&quot; expedition of the State Corporation &quot;T&uuml;rkmengeologi&yacute;a.&quot; The well is located at the Khazarly site near the Bovrideshik gas field and became the first to begin industrial production in this area.

An additional result was the production of 28,039 tons of associated gas condensate, which is 2,235 tons above the plan.

The increase in production also ensured an increase in export supplies: the volume of gas exports exceeded the plan by almost 41%, which corresponds to an additional 1.38 billion cubic meters delivered to foreign consumers.

Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Inspects Production and Construction Works in Balkan Velayat from Helicopter

The Administration &lsquo;D&ouml;wletabatgaz&ccedil;ykaryş&rsquo;, operating in the Sarakhs etrap of the Ahal velayat, has confirmed its status as one of the leaders in the gas industry of Turkmenistan. For the first 11 months of 2025, the company demonstrated steady growth in natural gas and condensate production.

These high performance indicators were achieved through extensive production modernization. A multi-stage feedstock preparation system has been implemented at the field: from primary treatment at the wellhead to advanced processing and gas dehydration at the headworks. This ensures that the product meets international standards before being sent to the main gas pipelines.

A key factor in this success was the renewal of the equipment fleet. Using a heavy-duty drilling rig with a lifting capacity of 180 tons, specialists from the State Concern &lsquo;T&uuml;rkmengaz&rsquo; completed the overhaul of approximately 30 wells with depths of up to 5,000 meters. Effective troubleshooting and bottomhole cleaning have restored wells that had previously experienced reduced productivity.

From December 21-23, a delegation from Turkmenistan headed by Director of the Caspian Institute Murad Atajanov paid a working visit to Tehran. The main topic of negotiations was preparation for the upcoming summit of heads of Caspian states.

The digital system affects construction work being carried out in the cities and velayats of the country. A clear example of this is the equipping of residential and state buildings being constructed with &quot;smart&quot; technologies and complete material and technical provision. Work on monitoring facilities, accounting, viewing, and verifying information is also being automated.

As international experience shows, the implementation of all capabilities of the digital system strengthens the foundation of the state economy. Turkmenistan is also confidently striving for the full implementation of the digital system.

Turkmenistan Implements Digital System to Improve Living Conditions

Specialists from the country&#39;s energy sector participated in a five-day training course on advanced methods of monitoring transborder oil and gas infrastructure and ensuring its safety in the Chinese city of Kunming and successfully completed it. This training program was organized by the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People&#39;s Republic of China.

Engineers and representatives of relevant agencies from Turkmenistan who participated in the training studied innovative approaches to managing pipeline systems in mountainous and hard-to-reach areas. The classes were conducted in the format of &quot;theory + practical lesson&quot;.

Turkmen specialists actively participated in practical classes together with Chinese colleagues from the Kunming branch of China&#39;s National Oil and Gas Pipeline Network, during which algorithms for real-time interaction were developed. They studied methods of delivering technical equipment to areas in the mountains that are difficult to access for pipeline laying.

As a result, this training created broad opportunities for Turkmen energy specialists to exchange experience with Chinese colleagues and was of great importance.

On December 22, a climate dialogue titled &ldquo;Inclusive Future: Developing a Plan for Public and Women&rsquo;s Participation in Turkmenistan&rsquo;s NDC 3.0&rdquo; was held in Ashgabat. The event was organized by the public organization Young Naturalist in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

During the meeting, climate analysts and UNDP project specialists, together with experts and SDG Ambassadors, discussed the social and gender aspects of climate change. The outcome of the dialogue was the formation of the foundations of a Roadmap for the systematic involvement of women and youth in the implementation and monitoring of NDC 3.0.

&ldquo;This dialogue enabled us to join efforts with UNDP to create inclusive mechanisms in climate policy. We strive to ensure that women&rsquo;s experience and the energy of youth become part of national plans. NDC 3.0 should reflect the interests of the entire society to achieve a sustainable future,&rdquo; said Leyli Shikhmadova, Chair of the public organization Young Naturalist.

The Role of the Public in the Climate Agenda Discussed in Ashgabat

Strategic partnership with the United Nations is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s foreign policy, which consistently develops constructive cooperation at the regional and global levels. In the International Year of Peace and Trust, marked by two anniversary dates&mdash;the 30th anniversary of the permanent neutrality of the Motherland and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the UN&mdash;this traditional interaction once again confirms its effectiveness and forward-looking focus. Evidence of this includes the outcomes of the fourth meeting of the Strategic Advisory Council &ldquo;Turkmenistan&ndash;UN,&rdquo; held in October in Ashgabat, successfully implemented and ongoing joint projects in various fields, as well as a solid package of bilateral documents aimed at long-term, multifaceted partnership.

An integral component of the productive Turkmenistan&ndash;UN dialogue is cooperation in the humanitarian sphere. In order to implement the tasks arising from the above-mentioned medium-term programmes, strengthen productive ties, and take concrete measures, Work Plans for the period 2026&ndash;2027 have been prepared and signed. These plans focus on the main areas of partnership between UNICEF, UNFPA, and the relevant ministries, departments, and institutions of our country.

It should also be noted that Turkmenistan currently serves as a member of the Commission on Population and Development for the period 2024&ndash;2028. As is known, earlier our country was elected to this Commission for two consecutive terms: 2016&ndash;2020 and 2020&ndash;2024.

With regard to gender policy, the principle of equal rights and freedoms and the creation of equal opportunities for men and women, in accordance with the Constitution of Turkmenistan and generally recognized international norms, has been defined as one of the priorities of the state strategy of the Motherland.

Thus, in the International Year of Peace and Trust, Neutral Turkmenistan, making a significant contribution to the advancement of the global humanitarian agenda, demonstrates its unwavering commitment to broad, multifaceted cooperation with the United Nations, its specialized agencies, and, in general, with all interested foreign partners for the sake of universal peace, prosperity, and progress.
