The Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan have announced the annual competition of scientific papers among the country&rsquo;s youth.

Young people under the age of 35 who are members of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan are eligible to participate. This includes employees of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan (AST), research institutes, International Technopark of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, production associations, scientific and technical enterprises, as well as students of higher education institutions, master&rsquo;s, postgraduate and doctoral programs, secondary and secondary vocational schools, and Turkmen citizens of various professions who demonstrate a strong interest in scientific activity.

Submissions are accepted in six main areas: Nanotechnology, Chemical Technologies, New Materials Research and Energy; Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Ecology, and Genetics; Information and Communication Systems and Computer Technologies; Modern Medicine and Pharmaceutical Production Technologies; Innovative Economy; and the Humanities.

Scientific papers will be reviewed by a specially established expert group composed of scientists and specialists in relevant fields of science and technology. The papers will be evaluated based on criteria such as the relevance of the topic and content, practical applicability, clarity of objectives, scientific novelty, research materials and methodology, and validation of scientific results.

The competition will be held in three stages. The results will traditionally be announced on Science Day, which is celebrated annually in Turkmenistan on June 12. The winners will be awarded valuable prizes.

Scientific papers must be submitted to the Central Council of the Magtymguly Youth Organization of Turkmenistan by February 15 of the current year. Submissions are accepted at the building of the Center of Public Organizations of Turkmenistan, located at 104 Garashsyzlyk Avenue, Ashgabat.

Our Esteemed President is initiating vital projects aimed at providing the population with clean drinking water. The hardworking employees of the Mary Hydrogeological Expedition of the &quot;Turkmengeologiya&quot; State Corporation are making a significant contribution to the positive resolution of this urgent issue. Hydrogeologists of the expedition are conducting exploration and appraisal of groundwater within the Mary and Lebap regions. They carry out hydrogeological, ecological, and engineering-geological surveys for reclamation purposes at various scales to calculate the reserves of groundwater deposits and study the geo-ecological state of the soil. Additionally, work is being carried out to study the circulation and quality of groundwater in the Mary and Lebap regions.

Currently, to study the groundwater reserves of our country and provide the population of Mary and Lebap regions with clean drinking water, drilling and surveying works are being successfully carried out at the Z&auml;hmet, Garabil, T&auml;rimli, T&ouml;reşyh, K&auml;l&ccedil;e, East Ba&yacute;ramaly, West Ba&yacute;ramaly, T&auml;ze oba, and Sandykga&ccedil;y sites in our region, as well as the Z&auml;hmetkeş and Narazym sites in the Lebap region. As a result of these efforts, the search, exploration, and calculation of reserves for groundwater and medicinal mineral waters are being conducted. Furthermore, beyond the Mary and Lebap regions, large-scale groundwater exploration and appraisal for technical equipment are being expanded in the Ahal and Balkan regions based on orders. For example, expedition workers are conducting exploration for iodine-bromine waters at the request of the Bereket Iodine Plant located in the Bereket district of the Balkan region. Of course, these tasks are filled with complexity and responsibility. Nevertheless, the specialists and workers of the expedition are making every effort to honorably fulfill the tasks set before them.

The industrious people of the Mary Hydrogeological Expedition achieved great success in 2025. Working creatively from the first days of the new year &mdash; &ldquo;Independent neutral Turkmenistan &minus; the homeland of purposeful winged horses&rdquo; &mdash; they aim to reach even higher milestones in 2026. Specifically, the specialists and workers of the enterprise achieved great success by fulfilling the plan for mechanical core drilling by 111.8% during the 11 months of last year. Effective work was carried out by the expedition&rsquo;s specialists and workers in discovering and drilling new water-bearing deposits. Exploration and drilling work continues at the new Hindiguş, Mollanepes, &Ccedil;aşgyn, and Peşanaly sites, where geological exploration is planned within our region. The organized implementation of work allows for the achievement of high results. Among the leading production workers who have particularly distinguished themselves are hydrogeologists Uzuk Ibragimova, Myrat Akmyradov, Babageldi Nobatov, Oraz Pashshyev, and drilling masters Dowran Orazmuhammedow, Kakamyrat Atajykow, Aşyr Allanazarow, Welmuhammet Gazakov, and Dortguly Gurbanov.

Having concluded the International Year of Peace and Trust with great achievements, the expedition workers have entered the new year with great confidence. They are working persistently with the goal of reaching new milestones in the current year.

Triumphant Strides of Hydrogeologists

In the Austrian capital, Vienna, a cultural event was held to mark the beginning of 2026, celebrated under the motto &laquo;Independent neutral Turkmenistan &minus; the homeland of purposeful winged horses&raquo;. The event was organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria as part of the Culture Week of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) at the UN Office in Vienna.

The exhibition featured traditional Turkmen fabrics, national costumes, carpets, handicrafts, silver jewelry, and artistic depictions of the Akhal-Teke horse. These exhibits highlighted the richness of Turkmen applied arts and decorative arts and emphasized the significance of national values.

The event was attended by the Secretary-General of the Organization of Turkic States, representatives of the UN Office in Vienna, members of the diplomatic corps, and other guests.

Turkmenistan showcased its culture at the Turkic States Week in Vienna

The &ldquo;Nebitdagnebit&rdquo; Oil and Gas Production Department, part of the State concern &ldquo;Turkmennebit&rdquo; and operating in the Balkan velayat, achieved high production and economic results last year.

The volume of oil extracted at the enterprise exceeded 668.6 thousand tons, providing an over-plan production of approximately 43.7 thousand tons. As a result, the annual plan was fulfilled at 106.99 percent.

The department&rsquo;s team continues to confidently accomplish the assigned tasks of increasing hydrocarbon production, demonstrating high professionalism and labor productivity.

In January of this year, &ldquo;Nebitdagnebit,&rdquo; together with foreign partners and service companies of the State concern Turkmennebit, is conducting extensive work on the industrial development of productive underground formations, creating a solid foundation for the further sustainable development of the oil industry.

“Nebitdagnebit” exceeds annual oil production plan

During the Revival of the New Era of the Independent State, the oil and gas chemical industry in our country has been developing successfully. In this sector, the country&rsquo;s abundant reserves of oil and natural gas hold particular significance.

In the territory of Ahal Province, a plant for producing gasoline from natural gas was launched, where the production of EKO-93 synthetic fuel, meeting the modern Euro-5 standard, has been established. This high-quality fuel, which is in high demand on the global market, is environmentally safe and plays an important role in the transition to clean energy.

This industrial complex has been entered into the Guinness World Records as the &ldquo;World&rsquo;s First Plant for Producing Synthetic Gasoline from Natural Gas.&rdquo; It has also been awarded the &ldquo;Innovative Technologies&rdquo; certificate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology and the &ldquo;Eco-Friendly&rdquo; certificate from the U.S. Environmental Protection Fund.

Growing Oil and Gas Chemical Industry

From January to November 2025, the volume of Turkmen and Kazakh oil transported through the Baku&ndash;Tbilisi&ndash;Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline amounted to 3,707.6 thousand tons. According to Report.az, citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan, this figure accounted for 14.9% of the total pipeline throughput during the reporting period.

Overall, in the first eleven months of 2025, 33,408.9 thousand tons of oil were transported through Azerbaijan&rsquo;s main pipelines.

The 1,768-kilometer Baku&ndash;Tbilisi&ndash;Ceyhan pipeline is one of the key routes for transporting Caspian oil to global markets. The pipeline begins in Baku, passes through Georgia, and ends at the Turkish port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean coast, providing access to international markets and diversifying the export routes of the countries in the region.

On Wednesday, January 14, at the trade exchange on the domestic market, local entrepreneurs concluded deals with the State Concern &ldquo;Turkmennebit&rdquo; to purchase base oil brand &ldquo;SN-180&rdquo;.

On 14 January 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Beata Pęksa.

The diplomats discussed a wide range of issues related to the further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres.

Special attention was paid to preparations for upcoming visits at the highest and high levels, as well as to a number of issues on the regional and international agenda.

During the meeting, the parties also reviewed the implementation of current and potential joint projects in the fields of high technologies, transport, economy, energy, environmental protection, and vocational education.

Issues of further development of Turkmenistan–EU partnership discussed in Ashgabat

In the strategy being implemented in Turkmenistan for innovative industrialization, digitalization of the national economy, addressing production sector tasks aimed at import substitution, and increasing the country&rsquo;s export potential, the fuel and energy complex (FEC) occupies a key place. The relevant events and outcomes of 2025 further confirmed this.

At the extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on July 11, 2025, the Head of State emphasized that the domestic FEC&mdash;one of the main segments of the national economy&mdash;faces key development tasks for this sector, including the diversification of natural gas exports to global markets.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in order to increase the production capacities of the complex&rsquo;s enterprises, instructed the continued implementation of the latest scientific achievements and innovative technologies. Additionally, directives were issued to conduct geological exploration, continuously improve the work on the development of oil and gas fields and the discovery of new ones, undertake comprehensive measures aimed at marketing hydrocarbon resources and their processed products on global markets, and continue the production of competitive and environmentally friendly products by strengthening the material and technical base of the oil and gas sector.

As a major energy power and one of the world&rsquo;s leading countries in natural gas reserves, Turkmenistan seeks to establish business contacts with large oil and gas companies and reputable financial institutions, as well as to significantly expand the geography of direct energy dialogue. Special attention is given to the active introduction of the latest scientific and technical developments, innovative technologies, and digital systems into the domestic FEC, including the use of 3D and 4D modeling methods.

The gas sector, which accounts for more than half of the country&rsquo;s industrial production, forms the foundation of the FEC. Active work is underway to explore, evaluate, and industrially develop new fields using advanced technologies at all stages of the production process. The petrochemical sector is also actively developing, with systematic work to increase production volumes, expand the product range, and improve quality to meet global standards, serve the domestic market, and provide a raw material base for the FEC.

In recent years, Turkmenistan has carried out targeted international activities, establishing effective contacts with foreign companies and drawing global attention to energy security issues. Annual exhibitions, meetings, and conferences provide a productive platform for launching new projects and learning about global trends in the oil and gas sector. A prominent example is the International Offsite Forum on Attracting Foreign Investments into Turkmenistan&rsquo;s Economy, held on April 23&ndash;24 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Organized by the State concerns T&uuml;rkmengaz and T&uuml;rkmennebit, and the Turkmenistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with the BE Turkmen Energy Forum, the event was conducted both in a traditional format and broadcast via Zoom to dozens of countries worldwide.

Today, by actively introducing innovative technologies and advanced global experience into the oil and gas sector, Turkmenistan places great importance on developing relations with large foreign companies and business structures based on trust, mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit.

Evidence of this is the international meeting and bilateral negotiations held on May 14 in Ashgabat between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the head of Petronas, Tan Sri Tengku Muhammad Taufik; the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology of the United Arab Emirates; the CEO of the National Oil Company of Abu Dhabi (ADNOC), Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber; the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Suhail Al Mazrouei; and the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al Saegh.

The main goal of the International Scientific and Practical Conference &ldquo;Environmental Aspects of Implementing Innovative Technologies in Hydrocarbon Field Development&rdquo;, held in a hybrid format on June 5 at the Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern T&uuml;rkmengaz, was to strengthen cooperation between Turkmen and major energy companies, reputable organizations, scientific communities, and financial institutions focused on digital technologies and human capital development.

Current directions of the energy strategy, aimed at innovative development and improvement of the FEC infrastructure, were considered at working meetings and Cabinet of Ministers sessions held in 2025. One of the key vectors of this strategy is the consistent strengthening of cooperation with regional countries based on mutual benefit and good-neighborly principles.

The important role of the Fuel and Energy Complex in the national economy

Major production facilities play a significant role in the development of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s fuel and energy complex. In particular, the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries and the Seydi Oil Refinery play a crucial role in expanding the country&rsquo;s oil industry.

Operations at these production facilities are carried out at an intensive pace, and a wide range of products is currently being manufactured. As a result of targeted, program-based work conducted in line with modern requirements, production has been established for hydrogen fuel, biofuel, high-octane unleaded motor gasoline, aviation, lighting, and technical kerosene, liquefied gas, various types of diesel fuel, industrial lubricating oils and polypropylene, as well as calcined electrode coke, road and construction bitumen, and other products.

Oil is the most important foundation of the petrochemical industry. This valuable raw material is used in the production of fabrics, footwear, plastic products, paints and coatings, and electrodes for metallurgy. Turkmen polyethylene is in high demand and is used as a raw material for the manufacture of both technical and household items, including films, bags, utility pipes, and electrical cable insulation. Polyethylene is characterized by high hardness and strength, chemical resistance to acids, alkalis, fats, and oils, as well as excellent dielectric properties. Therefore, it is used to produce containers for household chemicals, canisters, barrels, toys, tableware, kitchen and bathroom utensils, sewing and furniture fittings, components for automotive and household appliances, and large-scale structures such as playgrounds, wells, overpasses, and more.

It is worth noting that maintaining oil and gas production levels through the use of new technologies and field development methods requires deeper and more comprehensive processing of natural gas. In this regard, global trends related to the Sustainable Development Goals come to the forefront, including the intensification of mutually beneficial cooperation, the exchange of advanced technologies within new environmental standards, the attraction of investors to supply cutting-edge specialized equipment to the country, and the introduction of environmentally safe production facilities.

The Oil and Gas industry successfully produces a wide range of products

An event was held at the Balkanabat Oil Secondary professional School of the State Concern &ldquo;Turkmennebit,&rdquo; dedicated to the announcement of 2026 as the &laquo;Independent neutral Turkmenistan &minus; the homeland of purposeful winged horses&raquo;. An event Dedicated to the Year’s Motto Was Held at the Balkanabat Oil Secondary professional School

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has been cooperating with Turkmenistan since 2018 in modernizing the country&rsquo;s power infrastructure. The first project of the international financial institution in Turkmenistan&rsquo;s energy sector was the &ldquo;National Strategy for the Development of the Power Grid&rdquo;, with a total cost of USD 500 million, the ADB reported on Monday.

Under the project, the construction of approximately 1,400 kilometers of 110, 220, and 500 kV transmission lines, as well as 11 substations in Ahal, Balkan, Dashoguz, and Lebap provinces and in Ashgabat, has been financed.

The implementation of the initiative has already yielded significant results: electricity exports increased from 3.4 terawatt-hours in 2017 to 9.3 terawatt-hours in 2023. Additionally, technical assistance of USD 1.5 million was provided through a grant from the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Sustainable Asia and the Pacific.

The project partner for the ADB was the State Energy Corporation &ldquo;Turkmenenergo&rdquo;, which contributed USD 175 million.

The Asian Development Bank is an international financial organization that supports sustainable economic growth and development in the countries of Asia and the Pacific through loans, grants, and technical assistance.

ADB Supports Modernization of Turkmenistan’s Power Grid

On Tuesday, January 13, at the trade exchange in the foreign market, entrepreneurs from UAE concluded deals with the State Concern &ldquo;Turkmennebit&rdquo; to purchase viscous petroleum road bitumens brand &laquo;BND 60/90&raquo;.

On the domestic market, local entrepreneurs concluded deals with the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan to purchase thick licorice root extract.

During the trade exchange, 3 deals were concluded for a total cost of 8 400 000,00 manats and 1 760 000,00 US dollars.

Products of the State Concern “Turkmennebit” in the Turkmenistan stock exchange trades

Achievements in the gas sector, which plays an important role in the development of the national economy of our independent Motherland, fill each of us with pride. Thanks to the efforts of Arkadagly Hero Serdar, advanced technologies are being implemented in the country&rsquo;s oil and gas complex, geological exploration is being conducted, and production capacities at facilities are being expanded, ensuring high results. A further confirmation of these successes is the receipt of a powerful gas flow from a new well at the Hazarly field, located near the Bovrideshik gas field, managed by the Lebapgaz&ccedil;ykaryş Administration.

From the well drilled by the Marynebitgazgozleg expedition of the State Corporation Turkmengeology, a natural gas flow of 120,000 cubic meters was obtained in a single day. The new well, named &ldquo;Hazarly-3,&rdquo; became the first well at the Hazarly field to yield a gas flow. This demonstrates the opening of new opportunities in the country&rsquo;s gas sector and confirms that the geological exploration conducted by the administration is systematic and aimed at achieving high results.

The stable growth in the administration&rsquo;s production indicators is a clear result of the dedicated work of the gas specialists of the Lebapgaz&ccedil;ykaryş Administration. By the end of the first 11 months of 2025, the production plan was fulfilled by more than 101%. With a planned output of 9.3 billion cubic meters of gas, over 8.516 billion cubic meters of &ldquo;blue fuel&rdquo; were produced from January to November. These figures demonstrate the successful implementation of the objectives set for the country&rsquo;s gas sector.

The administration has also achieved high results in the export of natural gas to foreign markets. During the reporting period, 3.368 billion 988 million cubic meters of gas were planned for export, while in fact over 4.75 billion cubic meters of &ldquo;blue fuel&rdquo; were delivered. Thus, the export plan was overfulfilled. These achievements strengthen our country&rsquo;s authority as a reliable partner in the international gas markets. The production of gas condensate also exceeded the planned target.

At the core of these successes is the dedicated and diligent work of more than 2,500 employees of the Lebapgaz&ccedil;ykaryş Administration. As a primary trade union organization, the administration pays special attention to protecting workers&rsquo; rights, ensuring safe working conditions, providing opportunities for creativity, and enhancing social well-being.

Thanks to the efforts of the esteemed President, the country&rsquo;s gas sector is reaching new heights of development. The commissioning of new wells, increased production and export, and the expansion of geological exploration clearly demonstrate the successful implementation of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s energy strategy. These achievements not only strengthen the economic power of the Motherland but also significantly enhance Turkmenistan&rsquo;s position in the international energy market.

A Gas Flow Obtained from Another Well

On January 12, 2026, Turkmenistan&rsquo;s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, held a meeting with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Kaha Imnadze.

Highly appreciating the active work of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, the diplomats reviewed the outcomes of the past year and outlined further steps for the current year.

The parties reaffirmed Turkmenistan&rsquo;s commitment to further strengthening its strategic partnership with the United Nations, including in the context of jointly implementing the objectives set out in UN General Assembly resolutions adopted in 2025 and initiated by Turkmenistan.

The discussion also covered the advancement of the UN&rsquo;s programmatic and project activities in the region, involving all five Central Asian countries.

Special attention was given to exchanging views on the implementation of the initiative proposed by the President of Turkmenistan to establish, in cooperation with the UN, the University of Peace and Neutrality.

As is known, the Turkmen Head of State presented this initiative during the International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s permanent neutrality, held on December 12, 2025, in Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Discusses Implementation of the University of Peace and Neutrality Initiative with the UN

Specialists from the production units of the State Concern &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmennebit&rdquo; achieved high labor successes during the International Year of Peace and Trust and continue to work effectively in the first month of the new year, under the motto &laquo;Independent neutral Turkmenistan &minus; the homeland of purposeful winged horses&raquo;.

In the past landmark year, the Concern&rsquo;s crude oil and gas condensate production reached approximately 4,025,000 tons. The units of the &laquo;Nebitgaz&ccedil;ykaryş&raquo; Trust additionally extracted over 205,000 tons of oil, which amounted to 108.6% of the plan. The overall growth rate of crude oil production for the Concern reached about 106.7%. During this period, the trusts produced more than 4.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas and supplied it to consumers. The units &ldquo;Goturdepenebit,&rdquo; &ldquo;Gumdagnebit,&rdquo; &ldquo;Nebitdagnebit,&rdquo; &ldquo;Gamyşlyjanebit,&rdquo; &ldquo;Galkynyşnebit,&rdquo; &ldquo;Ke&yacute;mir,&rdquo; and the gas production unit &ldquo;K&ouml;rpeje&rdquo; successfully ensured a continuous flow of oil and gas.

The products manufactured at the Concern&rsquo;s oil refining plants in T&uuml;rkmenbaşy from hydrocarbon raw materials are of the highest quality and meet modern standards. Thanks to modernization and the commissioning of new production facilities, significant progress was made last year in refining oil and petrochemical products. The plan for processing incoming raw materials was fulfilled at 106.4%. Approximately 1,484,900 tons of various high-quality gasoline products were produced and delivered to consumers. The plan for kerosene production (434,000 tons) was fulfilled at 108.6%. Fuel oil production reached 137% of the plan, bitumen &ndash; 305%, and diesel fuel &ndash; 100%. Additionally, over 54,100 tons of high-quality lubricating oils, 57,640 tons of polypropylene, and 124,200 tons of liquefied gas were produced during the reporting period.

Specialists of the &laquo;Nebitgazd&uuml;&yacute;pliabatla&yacute;yş&raquo; Trust of the State Concern successfully carry out complex repair works on oil and gas wells, promptly restoring wells prepared for major repairs and putting them into operation. Last year alone, the trust&rsquo;s units fully repaired 437 wells instead of the planned 413, providing an additional 292,600 tons of &ldquo;black gold,&rdquo; which amounted to 124% of the plan.

Drilling units of the Concern play a special role in increasing hydrocarbon production. Modern, powerful drilling rigs of the&laquo;Nebitgazburawla&yacute;yş&raquo; Trust allowed drilling through rock formations to a total depth of 151,276 meters last year, of which about 125,000 meters are intended for operation&mdash;a particularly proud achievement.

In total, last year, the units of the Trust successfully commissioned 39 new wells, of which 33 are intended for operation. The operation of these new industrial wells produces hundreds of tons of crude oil daily. The labor collectives of the drilling units in &quot;Goturdepe&quot;, &quot;Nebitdag&quot;, &quot;Ekerem&quot;, and &quot;K&ouml;rpeje&quot; made a significant contribution to these achievements.

Production units of the State Concern “Türkmennebit” achieved significant labor successes last year

In 2025, e-commerce in Turkmenistan achieved significant progress. According to the Central Bank of the country, as of January 1, 2026, 1,043 retail outlets&mdash;specialized online stores and businesses accepting payments via bank cards online&mdash;were connected to the e-commerce system through various banks.

The leader in the number of connected outlets remains the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Halkbank&rdquo; with 571 retail points, while the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Rysgal&rdquo; ranks second with 248 points. Other participants in the system include banks such as the State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Turkmenistan,&rdquo; the State Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Turkmenistan, the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Senagat,&rdquo; the Turkmen-Turkish Joint-Stock Commercial Bank, the Joint-Stock Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Turkmenbashy,&rdquo; and the State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan &ldquo;Dayhanbank.&rdquo;

Most online outlets are concentrated in Ashgabat&mdash;719 points, which accounts for approximately 69% of the total. In other regions of the country, the distribution of retail outlets is as follows: Lebap &ndash; 90, Mary &ndash; 70, Balkan &ndash; 68, Dashoguz &ndash; 50, Ahal &ndash; 40, and the city of Arkadag &ndash; 6.

Growth is also observed in the volume of cashless payments through e-commerce systems: over the year, payments via online stores and services increased by 84%, reaching 2.63 billion manats.

Experts link the growth of e-commerce to the full digitalization of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s banking system, the widespread use of bank cards, modern POS terminals, and mobile banking. Another important factor is the implementation of the national economic digitalization program and the adoption of the Digital Economy Development Concept for 2026&ndash;2028, which creates additional opportunities for expanding online payments in the coming years.

E-commerce in Turkmenistan Shows Rapid Growth

On January 12, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a working meeting with the participation of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalyev and the hakims of the velayats, during which issues related to the development of the country&rsquo;s agro-industrial sector and the progress of work in the regions were reviewed.

The hakims reported on the pace of agricultural activities being carried out in the regions.

As part of preparations for the cotton sowing campaign, plowing, land leveling, harrowing, and application of mineral fertilizers are being carried out. Necessary measures are being taken to select seeds in order to provide cotton producers with high-quality seed material, as well as to repair and properly maintain machinery and equipment involved in sowing. To ensure the proper conduct of the sowing of winter crops and vegetables, work is underway to prepare fields and seeds for the spring campaign, as well as to improve the ameliorative condition of arable land.

The hakims also reported on ongoing efforts in the regions to ensure the proper functioning of heating systems in residential buildings and social facilities, as well as on the supply of electricity, natural gas, and drinking water to the population.

After hearing the reports, the head of state emphasized that achieving high results in agricultural production requires strict compliance with agrotechnical standards at all stages of production and issued a number of instructions to the hakims. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also instructed that special attention be paid to ensuring the high-quality execution of construction work at facilities scheduled for commissioning in the regions in 2026.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers T. Atahalyev reported on the progress of seasonal agricultural campaigns in the country.

As reported, care for wheat-sown fields continues in the velayats in accordance with agrotechnical standards. In preparation for cotton sowing, plowing, leveling, and harrowing of land are being carried out. To provide producers with high-quality seeds, cotton processing plants are taking steps to process cotton, select seed material, and ensure its proper storage until the start of the sowing campaign. Necessary measures are also being taken to prepare agricultural machinery for the upcoming season.

In addition, activities are being conducted to prepare land plots and seeds for the spring planting of potatoes and vegetable and melon crops.

Addressing the participants of the working meeting, the President of Turkmenistan once again emphasized the importance of the ongoing seasonal agricultural work and instructed that plowing and leveling of land for cotton be carried out in accordance with agrotechnical standards, with particular attention paid to issues of supplying cotton producers with seed material.

The head of state instructed to ensure control over the timely settlement of payments between cotton and wheat producers and service organizations and enterprises in the regions for work related to the harvesting of cotton, wheat, and rice in Lebap velayat and sugar beet in Mary velayat, as well as to properly carry out measures to clean territories, irrigation and collector-drainage systems, and to prepare agricultural lands in the regions for the spring season.

The President of Turkmenistan reviewed the preparations for the sowing campaign at a working meeting

Turkmen-Japanese relations are strategic in nature and, based on the principles of mutual respect and equality, serve as a solid foundation for the implementation of large-scale joint projects. The relations initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero-Arkadag, are currently being successfully continued under the leadership of our esteemed President.

As a result of close cooperation with leading Japanese companies such as Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, ITOCHU, and Sojitz, production enterprises unparalleled in the region have been established. In recent years, modern large-scale industrial facilities have been commissioned in Turkmenistan with the participation of Japanese companies. These include the gas-chemical complexes for ammonia and urea production in Mary and Garabogaz, the polymer plant in Kiyanly, the gas-to-gasoline (GTG) plant in Ovadan-Depe, and the gas turbine power plant in the Charjev etrap. These projects possess not only economic but also strategic significance, contributing to the technological modernization and diversification of the country&#39;s industrial potential.

Currently, major Japanese companies are conducting productive activities in Turkmenistan. Over many years, by implementing wide-ranging projects in our country, these companies have proven themselves as reliable partners. In this regard, the primary areas of cooperation include gas and petrochemistry, transport and communications, agriculture, and advanced technologies.

One of the large-scale investment projects implemented in cooperation with Japanese companies is the &quot;Garabogazkarbamid&quot; plant, commissioned in 2018, which has a capacity of 1,155,000 tons of urea per year&mdash;unmatched in the region. Specifically, the plant was built based on a contract between the &quot;T&uuml;rkmenhimi&yacute;a&quot; State Concern and a consortium of the Japanese &quot;Mitsubishi Corporation&quot; and the Turkish &quot;Gap Inşaat Yatirim ve Diş Ticaret A.Ş.&quot; with the aim of developing the country&#39;s chemical industry and increasing export potential. In addition to the main production facilities for synthetic ammonia and urea, the plant includes auxiliary facilities, such as an autonomous gas turbine generator for power generation and a seawater desalination and treatment plant.

The &quot;Garabogazkarbamid&quot; plant is designed to process nearly 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. Through the processing of natural gas, the plant is capable of producing 2,000 tons of synthetic ammonia per day, and based on that, 3,500 tons of urea fertilizer per day. The urea produced by the plant contains 46.2% nitrogen, which is considered the highest indicator in this category among fertilizers.

Furthermore, the polymer plant project in Kiyanly was implemented with the participation of the Japanese company &quot;TOYO Engineering Corporation.&quot;

The gas-to-gasoline plant in the Ahal velayat, which entered the Guinness World Records as the world&#39;s first plant to produce gasoline from natural gas, was also built with the participation of the Japanese company &quot;Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.&quot; The enterprise processes 1.785 billion cubic meters of &quot;blue fuel&quot; annually, producing 600,000 tons of ECO-93 gasoline (compliant with EURO-5 standards), 12,000 tons of diesel fuel, and 115,000 tons of liquefied gas (LPG). The total value of this project is 1.7 billion US dollars.

In the Charjev etrap of the Lebap velayat, a 432-megawatt gas turbine power plant was constructed with the participation of the Japanese companies &quot;Sumitomo Corporation&quot; and &quot;Mitsubishi Power Ltd.&quot; The power plant is equipped with gas turbine equipment from the renowned &quot;Mitsubishi Power Ltd.&quot; This marks the first time in the history of the country&#39;s electric power industry that this company&#39;s technologies have been utilized. Three gas turbines, each with a capacity of 144 megawatts, were installed. With the commissioning of the new facility, the installed capacity of the country&#39;s energy system increased, bringing the capacity of the existing Lebap State Power Plant to 581.2 megawatts. This project has enabled an increase in the volume of electricity exports to Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Afghanistan.

Currently, cooperation is underway with &quot;Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.&quot; to ensure the continuous operation of the &quot;Marykarbamid&quot; plant of the &quot;T&uuml;rkmenhimi&yacute;a&quot; State Concern by establishing a steady supply of raw materials and chemical agents used in production according to technological standards. This major investment project, valued at over 3.4 billion US dollars, was implemented by the &quot;T&uuml;rkmengaz&quot; State Concern together with Korean and Japanese companies. Its production capacity allows for the processing of 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. Equipped with the most advanced technologies, this enterprise is capable of producing 386,000 tons of high-quality polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene annually.

As part of economic and energy cooperation, Japanese companies will build an ammonia and urea plant, as well as a polymer plant, in the settlement of Kiyanly in the Balkan velayat. This was reported in a Joint Press Statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan regarding the results of the summit between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi.

According to the statement, the contract for the full construction of the ammonia and urea plant in Kiyanly was concluded on September 29, 2025. Additionally, on July 23, 2025, a contract was signed for the execution of the first stage of work to establish production at the Kiyanly Polymer Plant. Within the framework of the project, it is planned to ensure the stable operation of the plant by modernizing production facilities.

The parties also expressed their readiness to cooperate on the implementation of the project to build a second gas-to-gasoline plant in the Ahal velayat in accordance with the legislation of Turkmenistan.

These projects, carried out with the participation of Japanese companies, are aimed at expanding the production capabilities of Turkmenistan&#39;s chemical industry and modernizing industrial facilities.

During the meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi on December 20, 2025, key issues of bilateral economic and energy cooperation were discussed.

The aforementioned points demonstrate Turkmenistan&#39;s unwavering commitment to developing and expanding cooperation with Japan and its readiness to continue providing comprehensive support to Japanese businesses for long-term operations in our country. Turkmen-Japanese cooperation in the processing of hydrocarbon resources

On January 10, 2026, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, made a working visit to the city of Arkadag.

Here, Hero-Arkadag was presented with projects of industrial enterprises of the medical cluster&mdash;an important component of the second phase of construction of the new city&mdash;as well as layouts of their location.

The meeting devoted to accelerating the pace of work within the framework of the second phase of development of the city of Arkadag was attended by heads of world-renowned companies, including the Japanese companies Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd and Sumitomo Heavy Industries Plastics Machinery, the Korean companies EM Korea Co., Ltd and Korea Meditech Co., Ltd, as well as representatives of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, the polymer plant in Gyyanly, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the country, the business entity Garagum involved in the construction of the medical cluster and equipping its production facilities, and the heads of the embassies of Turkmenistan in Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Certificates confirming the quality and environmental safety of local raw materials used at the production facilities of the Arkadag medical cluster and of the products manufactured from them were presented, along with certificates related to studies on the impact of chemical industry products on human health.

A special place was given to certificates of compliance of the Arkadag medical cluster with ISO standards.

Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag under the President of Turkmenistan, D. Orazov, reported on the implementation of the second phase of development of the new city, as well as on ISO compliance certificates for the quality of local raw materials used in the production of various types of products planned to be manufactured at the enterprises of the new city&rsquo;s medical cluster.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people stressed that all work must be carried out properly under the constant supervision of the State Committee for the Construction of the City of Arkadag, that all products must undergo quality control, and that the proper functioning of equipment must be checked.

The hakim of the city of Arkadag, G. Mammedova, informed about plans to modernize a general education school in the new city and transform it into a specialized school with advanced study of foreign languages.

The Hwro-Arkadag approved this decision and noted that special attention should be paid to equipping the specialized school, as well as ensuring that language classrooms and other educational facilities meet international standards.

On January 7, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, during which the results of economic sector activities for 2024 were summarized, reports from deputy prime ministers, heads of ministries, and provincial governors were heard. During the reporting period, the oil production plan of the State Concern &quot;T&uuml;rkmennebit&quot; was fulfilled at 102.1 percent. The oil refineries of the State Concern achieved an oil refining plan execution of 101.9 percent, gasoline production&mdash;103.3 percent, petroleum bitumen&mdash;224.4 percent, and lubricating oils&mdash;100 percent.

Information was also provided on the production of diesel fuel, polypropylene, liquefied gas, and the extraction of natural and associated gas.

Reporting on the ongoing efforts to ensure the uninterrupted supply of petroleum products to government agencies, enterprises, and organizations, as well as their rational distribution and use, the deputy prime minister presented a draft resolution for the President&rsquo;s consideration.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that, as a result of the state&rsquo;s ongoing energy policy, the oil and gas sector is steadily developing. In this regard, he underscored the importance of carrying out necessary measures in 2025 to modernize the industry and ensure reliable supplies of natural gas to both domestic and international consumers. He also highlighted the need for further implementation of advanced technologies to expand the production capacities of the oil and gas sector.

The Head of State instructed to accelerate the industrial development of the &quot;Galkynyş&quot; gas field and expedite the construction of the Turkmenistan&ndash;Afghanistan&ndash;Pakistan&ndash;India (TAPI) gas pipeline, particularly its key Serhetabat&ndash;Herat section, known as &quot;Arkadagyň ak &yacute;oly.&quot; He also emphasized the importance of developing promising oil fields.

Additionally, President Berdimuhamedov directed the deputy prime minister to focus on increasing the production capacities of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries and the Seydi Oil Refinery, to intensify exploration and geological surveys for hydrocarbon deposits, solid mineral resources, rare minerals, and underground water reserves. The Head of State also instructed to continue the successful implementation of digital technologies and systematically enhance the qualifications of specialists in the oil and gas industry.
