The Third Meeting of the Heads of Parliaments of Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea was held in Tashkent on December 16. Turkmenistan was represented at the meeting by officials from its Embassy in Uzbekistan.

During the event, participants exchanged views on pressing issues related to the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue and the expansion of multilateral cooperation between Central Asian countries and the Republic of Korea.

Plenary sessions and thematic discussions focused on deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation in areas such as social justice, environmental protection, climate change mitigation, sustainable use of natural resources, and the improvement of environmental legislation.

Participants also noted that previous meetings held in Seoul in September 2023 and in Ashgabat in October 2024 clearly demonstrated the relevance and demand for this format of inter-parliamentary interaction.

Following the meeting, a Joint Declaration of the Third Meeting of the Heads of Parliaments of Central Asian States and the Republic of Korea was adopted.

At the same time, special emphasis was placed on the fact that 2025 marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s permanent neutrality, which has become an example of a constructive and peace-loving foreign policy that contributes to strengthening trust and cooperation among nations.

Turkmenistan’s Efforts in Conflict Prevention and Addressing Root Causes Based on the Principles of Neutrality Welcomed

On December 16, a ceremony was held at the Center of the International Association of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding and the International Association &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmen alaba&yacute; itleri&rdquo; to present the Certificate confirming the inclusion of the national nomination &laquo;The Art of breeding the Turkmen alabay&raquo; in UNESCO&#39; s Representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

The ceremony was preceded by presentations on the activities of the International Association &ldquo;T&uuml;rkmen alaba&yacute; itleri,&rdquo; as well as on state policy aimed at improving and preserving the purity of the breed. During the event marking this significant occasion, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Tanryguly Atahalyyev delivered a speech in which, on behalf of the ceremony&rsquo;s participants, he expressed gratitude to the Head of State and the Hero-Arkadag for the measures taken at the state level that contribute to the recognition of national values by authoritative international organizations.

UNESCO Certificate on the Art of Breeding the Turkmen Alabay presented in Ashgabat

On December 16, a meeting of the Turkmen&ndash;Austrian Friendship Group was held at the &ldquo;&Yacute;yldyz&rdquo; Hotel, during which the results of the work carried out over the current year were summed up.

During the meeting, a number of key issues aimed at further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding the activities of the Friendship Group were reviewed and discussed.

The main discussions focused on the development of mutually beneficial economic partnership and the further strengthening of bilateral relations, including through cultural diplomacy.

Meeting of the Turkmen–Austrian Friendship Group Held in Ashgabat

On December 14, a delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov took part in the 11th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The forum, dedicated to the theme &ldquo;UNAOC: Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity &mdash; Advancing a New Era of Mutual Respect and Understanding in a Multipolar World,&rdquo; brought together representatives of national governments, youth and women leaders, as well as representatives of civil society institutions and media organizations from around the world.

In his address, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov emphasized the growing importance of the UN Alliance of Civilizations amid a crisis of trust and increasing polarization in international relations, noting the consonance of its activities with Turkmenistan&rsquo;s initiative to proclaim 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust. Day of Oil, Gas Industry, and Geology workers was celebrated with great ceremony in Balkan Province

On December 15, on the eve of the New Year, a ceremonial lighting of the country&rsquo;s Main New Year tree took place in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

In accordance with a long-standing tradition, the square in front of the &ldquo;&Auml;lem&rdquo; Cultural and Recreation Center, located at the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountains, was chosen as the main venue for the celebrations. A tall New Year tree was installed there, surrounded by splendid decorative designs symbolizing the festive spirit.

The event was attended by residents and guests of the capital, folklore and dance groups, circus and theater performers, as well as fairy-tale characters. The most impressive moment of the celebration was the lighting of the Main New Year tree with the help of Ayaz Baba&rsquo;s magical staff.

Lights of the Main New Year tree were lit in Turkmenistan

On December 15, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov presented awards at the Martial Arts Sports Complex of the Ashgabat Olympic Village to young people who won prize places at international academic competitions and world-class sports tournaments, as well as to their mentor teachers and coaches.

In accordance with the relevant documents signed by the President of Turkmenistan, athletes who won gold medals at world-level sports competitions and their coaches were awarded 2025 model &ldquo;Toyota Camry&rdquo; passenger cars. Athletes who earned silver medals received cash prizes of 70,000 manats, while bronze medalists were awarded 40,000 manats. In addition, coaches who trained athletes winning silver and bronze medals at world-level competitions received cash prizes of 70,000 manats.

Taking into account the high achievements of young people at international academic competitions and Olympiads, as well as the merits of their mentors, school students who won second place and silver medals at world-level Olympiads were awarded 70,000 manats, while those who took third place and bronze medals received 40,000 manats. Furthermore, university students who won first place and gold medals were awarded 100,000 manats, those who took second place and silver medals received 70,000 manats, and those who placed third and won bronze medals received 40,000 manats. In his address, Hero Arkadag emphasized the need for constructive mobilization of potential, political maturity, will, and principled commitment on the part of the entire international community. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that all states, regardless of their political systems, size, or other factors, today bear responsibility for the future of our planet.

According to Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the key mechanism for such unity is the potential of the United Nations.

Thanks to the results of your devoted and purposeful work, great achievements are being attained in the oil and gas sector of our economy. The comprehensive activities carried out in this field help strengthen our country&rsquo;s position among the world&rsquo;s leading states in terms of hydrocarbon reserves. By launching major international projects in this area, we set important objectives to ensure that hydrocarbon resources primarily serve the prosperous life of our people, future generations, as well as the well-being of the peoples of neighboring countries.

Based on the initiatives of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, on December 14, 2009, the Turkmenistan&ndash;China international gas pipeline was put into operation. This date, written in golden letters in the pages of history, acquired special significance as the Day of Workers of the Oil and Gas Industry and Geology in our country. In accordance with the national and state programs adopted for the comprehensive development of our stable Motherland, during the era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, large-scale work is being carried out to create major industrial complexes, gas transportation systems, and to develop promising oil and gas fields.

Among the achievements of the sector are the discovery of new oil and gas fields in various regions of our country, the operation of the Turkmenistan&ndash;China and East&ndash;West gas pipelines, as well as the implementation of the project of the Turkmenistan&ndash;Afghanistan&ndash;Pakistan&ndash;India international gas pipeline. In the Year of International Peace and Trust, the blessing given by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, for the construction of an important section of this project&mdash;the Serhetabat&ndash;Herat gas pipeline along the &ldquo;White Road of Arkadag&rdquo;&mdash;became another example of our commitment to ensuring the long-term development of countries and promoting sustainable growth in the region.

The Galkynysh gas field, discovered as a result of the dedicated exploration efforts of Turkmen geologists and occupying one of the leading positions in the world in terms of fuel resource reserves, has enormous economic significance for both our country and the region as a whole. The phased development of this field opens up new opportunities to expand the geography of exports of Turkmen natural gas to international markets. At present, the number of countries expressing interest in Turkmen energy resources is steadily increasing. World-renowned companies and international financial institutions are showing great interest in establishing cooperation with our country in this area and directing investments into it. The creation of a favorable investment environment for the effective development of licensed offshore blocks in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea is also distinguished by its attractiveness.

In accordance with the &ldquo;Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022&ndash;2028&rdquo; and the &ldquo;National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2022&ndash;2052 &lsquo;Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State,&rsquo;&rdquo; the implementation of comprehensive measures aimed at further increasing productivity in the country&rsquo;s oil and gas industry is envisaged. The successful development of oil and gas fields in our Motherland, which is extremely rich in natural resources, demonstrates the high pace of work being carried out in this sector. Ensuring compliance with environmental protection requirements during the development of fields, extraction, processing, and transportation of hydrocarbons, carrying out these activities in accordance with high environmental standards, and reducing their impact on climate change are among the most important tasks. I am firmly confident that the workers of the oil and gas industry and geology, mastering advanced global experience, will continue to make a worthy contribution to fulfilling Turkmenistan&rsquo;s obligations in this field.

On December 12, an International Forum was held in Ashgabat, timed to coincide with the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s permanent neutrality. High-level delegations from countries around the world, as well as international and regional organizations, took part in the event.

&ldquo;It is a great honor and privilege for us to see our guests on Turkmen land. Welcome to Turkmenistan!&rdquo; President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said, emphasizing that the current Forum is regarded as a major event of international significance, intended to serve as a starting point for reflecting on regional, continental, and global processes, and for affirming in international politics the values of peace, cooperation, equality, trust, justice, a culture of dialogue, and mutual understanding.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov particularly stressed that the United Nations views our country as a responsible and effective partner in addressing the most important global and regional challenges, achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, and promoting fair and balanced approaches to international cooperation across a broad range of areas. In this regard, Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to expand the scope of interaction with the UN and to seek focused attention and substantive engagement of its specialized agencies in the development and implementation of national, regional, and global programs.

At the high-level event, heads of foreign states and governments also delivered speeches.

Turkmenistan and Russia Aim to Develop Interstate Cooperation

Based on the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan, the Day of Workers of the Oil and Gas Industry and Geology, celebrated annually in our country since 15 January 2010, carries great historical and political significance. This date is closely connected with the launch of the Turkmenistan&ndash;China gas pipeline, which was inaugurated on 14 December 2009 during the tenure of our National Leader, Hero Arkadag, as Head of State. With the commissioning of this modern gas system, Turkmenistan&rsquo;s blue fuel opened its historic route, and today this day is celebrated as the holiday of the national energy industry.

A long-term vision for energy policy

The energy policy implemented under the leadership of esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov aims at the rapid development of the oil and gas sector &mdash; the backbone of the national economy &mdash; and its successful integration into the international energy space. Energy projects not only generate economic benefits but also play an important role in strengthening regional and global energy security.

Turkmenistan&rsquo;s vast hydrocarbon reserves attract great global interest. Therefore, the country is expanding cooperation with leading oil and gas companies and reputable financial institutions. Establishing new infrastructure that meets the modern demands of energy security is one of the key objectives.

&ldquo;Galkynysh&rdquo; &mdash; a field of global significance

The &ldquo;Galkynysh&rdquo; field, one of the largest gas fields in the world, deserves special attention for its political and economic importance. Its phased development expands the opportunities for Turkmen gas to enter international markets. Today, demand for Turkmen energy resources is high, and international companies show great interest in enhancing cooperation with our country. Thus, Turkmenistan&rsquo;s diversified export strategy aligns with increasing natural gas production and expanding gas-chemical output.

Modern gas-chemical complexes built and commissioned in recent years have broadened the country&rsquo;s export potential and paved the way for the production of high value-added products.

Key areas of the Programme until 2030

According to the &ldquo;Programme for the Development of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s Oil and Gas Industry until 2030&rdquo;, work is successfully continuing to expand production capacity, implement new technologies, and widely use digital systems. Innovative solutions are actively applied at oil and gas fields, increasing productivity. Great importance is attached to environmental protection, reduction of methane emissions, and contributing to addressing global climate challenges.

Turkmenistan actively participates in international environmental initiatives. At the UN COP28 Conference in Dubai, the country officially announced its accession to the Global Methane Pledge. This decision set new tasks for the oil and gas sector, and our specialists are diligently working toward these goals.

New fields, new projects, world-class achievements

The newly discovered oil fields in the southwest of the country, the gas pipelines &ldquo;Turkmenistan&ndash;China&rdquo; and &ldquo;East&ndash;West&rdquo;, and the ongoing construction of the international TAPI gas pipeline are important milestones in Turkmenistan&rsquo;s energy history.

The number of countries expressing interest in Turkmen energy resources increases yearly, proving the correctness of the country&#39;s multi-vector export policy.

International Forum &ldquo;Turkmenistan Oil and Gas &mdash; OGT 2025&rdquo;: records and achievements

The 30th International Conference and Exhibition &ldquo;Turkmenistan Oil and Gas &mdash; OGT 2025&rdquo;, held in Ashgabat on 22&ndash;24 October 2025 under the slogan &ldquo;Energy. Innovation. Development.&rdquo; clearly demonstrated once again the international success of the country&rsquo;s energy industry.

The participation of more than 1,400 representatives from 70 countries reflects the high level of global confidence. Over 100 companies took part in the exhibition, which is a 45% increase compared to last year.

Speeches by leaders of global energy giants such as DEWA, ENOC, S&amp;P Global, IGU, BOTAŞ, and SOCAR elevated the prestige of the event even further.

The glory of international cooperation dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Neutrality

Coinciding with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s Permanent Neutrality, the forum once again demonstrated the solid foundation of international cooperation. The development of the Galkynysh field, the TAPI project, and the exploration of new offshore blocks in the Caspian Sea represent effective steps of this policy.

At the OGT Awards Gala ceremony, companies contributing to innovation and consistent cooperation were honored. It was also announced that preparations for OGT 2026 have begun, with priority directions such as artificial intelligence, hydrogen energy, and renewable energy to be highlighted at the next forum.

The Day of Oil and Gas Industry and Geology Workers is not only a professional holiday but also a shining reflection of Turkmenistan&rsquo;s energy development, international cooperation and economic prosperity.

On September 28, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

The Secretary General highly appreciated the policy of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, stressing that the country&#39;s foreign policy pursued by its leadership is a successful example in ensuring peace and stability.

The UN Chief expressed gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for its efforts to eradicate statelessness and consistent steps in this direction.

At the same time, the sides exchanged views on the development of cooperation between the United Nations and Turkmenistan, as well as on issues of regional peace and security, including Afghanistan. In this regard, the regular assistance and support provided to the Afghan people was highly appreciated.

The sides agreed on the successful organization of the visit of the UN Secretary General to Turkmenistan in July this year and the results of meetings with His Excellency President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and His Excellency the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The Head of the United Nations expressed gratitude for the high organizational level of the visit and the hospitality provided.

The Turkmen side assured of the country&#39;s commitment to the implementation of its foreign policy based on the status of permanent neutrality.

At the same time, it was reported about the intention to work closely with the UN in the implementation of the initiative to prepare a Global Security Strategy put forward by the President of Turkmenistan at the previous session of the General Assembly.

Speaking about the expansion of strategic cooperation with the United Nations, R.Meredov informed about the preparation of the implementation plan and the agreements reached following the visit. In this context, the importance of the upcoming 2025, proclaimed by the UN on the initiative of Turkmenistan as the &quot;International Year of Peace and Trust&quot; for the entire international community, was emphasized. In this regard, they announced their intention to prepare a program of events to mark the year 2025 &ndash; Peace and Trust, and stressed the importance of the United Nations in its successful implementation.

On the issue of assistance to Afghanistan, the Minister noted that the launch of a number of large transport and energy projects on September 11 on the Turkmen-Afghan border is another clear example of a consistent policy to assist the people of Afghanistan. It was also stressed that these projects will be clearly implemented within the framework of international legal norms.

The Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the high assessment of the work in the field of eradication of statelessness, stressing that work in the humanitarian field is one of the priorities of Turkmenistan&#39;s policy and its cooperation with the United Nations.
