Turkmenistan hosts conference "The Role of Biotechnology in Sustainable Development of the Agricultural Sector"

Turkmenistan is preparing to host a large-scale Turkmen-Chinese business forum and exhibition scheduled for April 28-30, 2026, which will serve as an important international platform for expanding trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The joint-stock company &quot;Talvas Yoly&quot; and its division &quot;Oguz Forum &amp; Expo&quot; in cooperation with the Turkmen Logistics Association are the official organizers of the event. The year&#39;s results have not yet been summarized in figures, but the most significant events that marked this anniversary year are already visible, including those in the development of the oil and gas industry&mdash;a key segment of the national economy and a strategic resource for the country.

During working meetings and sessions of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held this year, current areas of the energy strategy, focused on innovative development and improvement of the fuel and energy infrastructure, were discussed. Among the strategic objectives set by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the fuel and energy sector, which are being successfully implemented in 2025 by the state concerns Turkmengas, Turkmennebit, and the State Corporation Turkmengeology, are the identification and development of new promising fields, expansion of production capacity, increased hydrocarbon production and processing volumes, ensuring uninterrupted gas supplies to consumers and reliable energy transportation, as well as expanding business contacts with leading oil and gas companies and reputable financial institutions.

In 2025, the implementation of large-scale international projects continued, including the construction of the Turkmenistan&ndash;Afghanistan&ndash;Pakistan&ndash;India (TAPI) gas pipeline, which is designed not only to supply Turkmen gas to Asian countries but also to become an important factor in strengthening economic partnership, peace, and stability in the region. In this regard, the launch of the next stage of the Serhetabat-Herat gas pipeline, known as &quot;Arkadagyň ak &yacute;oly&quot; and part of the TAPI project, was a significant event of the year.

Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, symbolically launched welding work on the Afghan section. Speaking at the ceremony, Arkadagyň noted that Afghan citizens will also be involved in the project&#39;s implementation, and its full implementation will create new jobs. Thus, as part of the official visit of Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Italy on October 25, a Turkmen-Italian business forum was held in Rome, bringing together over 150 representatives of the two countries&#39; business communities. Throughout the year, work continued on the industrial development of Turkmen offshore fields in the Caspian Sea, as well as the world&#39;s largest onshore gas field, Galkynysh, with reserves estimated at 27.4 trillion cubic meters.

A significant achievement for drillers at the State Concern Turkmennebit was the commissioning of a new well at the Uzynada field, measuring 6,830 meters deep and producing 70 tons of oil condensate and 75,000 cubic meters of natural gas daily. Notably, the well was commissioned at the beginning of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

Turkmen geologists continued active work to identify new underground natural resource reserves. Seismic exploration in the country&#39;s provinces revealed several promising structures. Another significant milestone was the opening in July of the third oil loading berth at the Kenar oil product storage and loading facility of the Turkmenbashi Oil Refinery Complex of the State Concern Turkmennebit.

A clear example of Turkmenistan&#39;s commitment to international climate action, including participation in the Global Methane Emissions Reduction Commitment, is the work to reduce emissions at the Darvaza gas crater. In June 2025, a significant reduction in gas supply to the crater was reported, confirmed by both a visual reduction in combustion intensity and independent satellite data from the Capterio company.

Specialized exhibitions and conferences traditionally play an important role in promoting the domestic fuel and energy sector and developing international cooperation. In 2025, Turkmenistan actively participated in a number of significant international forums both domestically and internationally.

The &quot;Lebapgazchykarysh&quot; Department put into operation a new gas well &quot;Hazarly-2,&quot; drilled by specialists from the &quot;Marynebitgazg&ouml;zleg&quot; expedition of the State Corporation &quot;T&uuml;rkmengeologi&yacute;a.&quot; The well is located at the Khazarly site near the Bovrideshik gas field and became the first to begin industrial production in this area.

An additional result was the production of 28,039 tons of associated gas condensate, which is 2,235 tons above the plan.

The increase in production also ensured an increase in export supplies: the volume of gas exports exceeded the plan by almost 41%, which corresponds to an additional 1.38 billion cubic meters delivered to foreign consumers.

New Gas Well titled "Hazarly-2" Put into Operation in Lebap Velayat of Turkmenistan

National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on December 24, within the framework of a working trip to Balkan velayat, flew over the Avaza National tourist zone by helicopter and familiarized himself with the ongoing works, natural features of the Caspian coast, new buildings of the expanding tourist zone, and construction works being carried out.

Chairman of Halk Maslahaty Inspects Production and Construction Works in Balkan Velayat from Helicopter

The Administration &lsquo;D&ouml;wletabatgaz&ccedil;ykaryş&rsquo;, operating in the Sarakhs etrap of the Ahal velayat, has confirmed its status as one of the leaders in the gas industry of Turkmenistan. For the first 11 months of 2025, the company demonstrated steady growth in natural gas and condensate production.

These high performance indicators were achieved through extensive production modernization. A multi-stage feedstock preparation system has been implemented at the field: from primary treatment at the wellhead to advanced processing and gas dehydration at the headworks. This ensures that the product meets international standards before being sent to the main gas pipelines.

A key factor in this success was the renewal of the equipment fleet. Using a heavy-duty drilling rig with a lifting capacity of 180 tons, specialists from the State Concern &lsquo;T&uuml;rkmengaz&rsquo; completed the overhaul of approximately 30 wells with depths of up to 5,000 meters. Effective troubleshooting and bottomhole cleaning have restored wells that had previously experienced reduced productivity.

The work successes of the &lsquo;D&ouml;wletabatgaz&ccedil;ykaryş&rsquo; team ensure the stable implementation of the state strategy to expand export potential and strengthen the energy independence of the country.

‘Döwletabatgazçykaryş’ increases gas production through innovation

From December 21-23, a delegation from Turkmenistan headed by Director of the Caspian Institute Murad Atajanov paid a working visit to Tehran. The main topic of negotiations was preparation for the upcoming summit of heads of Caspian states.

New Book by the President of Turkmenistan Presented in Dushanbe

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on December 24 during a working trip to Balkan velayat, reviewed issues related to the high-level organization of international events to be held in 2026 at the Avaza National Tourist Zone, and also familiarized himself with projects concerning their organizational level.

Relevant officials provided detailed information about the layout plan for the international forum building to be held on the Caspian coast in 2026, about the finishing work of its sections, conference hall, as well as the types of lighting systems for the building.

As noted, preparatory and finishing work will be carried out in accordance with the prepared plan. Modern advanced experience and innovative technologies are being effectively utilized. The work planned here has been assigned to construction entrepreneurs of our country.

Hero-Arkadag emphasized that today an important task is to ensure quality completion of all planned work within the established timeframe. At the same time, along with equipping the facilities, great importance should be given to their decoration.

​On October 16, the 13th meeting of the Joint Turkmen-Tajik Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation took place in the capital. A delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the country S. Ziezoda arrived in Ashgabat to participate in it.

During the meeting, it was emphasized that in recent years, relations between the two countries, based on mutual goodwill, have gained a qualitatively new dynamic and content. Mutual visits and meetings at the highest and governmental levels are regular, which contributes to the progressive development of fruitful cooperation across its entire spectrum.

Important events in the history of the traditionally friendly Turkmen-Tajik dialogue were the state and working visits of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in May and September last year, as well as the official visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tajikistan in April this year. In the light of modern realities, strengthening cooperation in the scientific and technical sphere, in the field of the introduction of advanced technologies and innovations is also becoming particularly relevant.

Special attention was paid to the development of humanitarian contacts, including in the field of education and science. A striking example of fraternal, good-neighborly interstate relations based on the historically established ties between the two peoples is the construction of a secondary school named after Makhtumkuli in the Daykhan association &quot;Ergesh Sultanov&quot; in the Dusti district of the Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan. As you know, the laying of the foundation of this socially significant facility took place on May 10, 2023, as part of the state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to a friendly country. The construction of the complex of buildings of this educational institution was carried out by the forces of Turkmen builders in accordance with the Decree signed by the President of Turkmenistan in December 2022. And on September 1 of this year, a beautiful new school, designed for 540 places, hospitably opened its doors to students. Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Emomali Rahmon took part in the celebrations on the occasion of its opening using the digital system.

Turkmenistan and Tajikistan also cooperate fruitfully in the cultural sphere. This is clearly evidenced by the holding of cross-cultural Days and other creative events. This year, representatives of the friendly state took part in commemorative events held in our country dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Turkmen classical literature, the great poet and thinker of the East Mahtumkuly Fragi. President Emomali Rahmon visited Ashgabat in order to participate in the International Forum &quot;Interrelation of Times and Civilizations &ndash; the basis of Peace and Development&quot;, held on October 11, timed to coincide with the significant date.
