Japanese companies are implementing a number of major industrial projects in Turkmenistan as part of developing economic and energy cooperation. Specifically, an ammonia and urea plant, as well as a polymer plant, are planned for construction in the village of Kiyanly in the Balkan region. This was stated in a joint press release following the summit between Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi , published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

According to the document, a contract for the turnkey construction of an ammonia and urea plant in Kiyanly was signed on September 29, 2025.
